There is a national organization that created Welcoming Week. Through Welcoming Week, organizations and communities bring together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places in achieving collective prosperity. Welcoming America is proud to lead the growing network of hosts and partners around the United States and world who strive to make their communities a more welcoming place for all.

Glencoe has joined the movement and is having an event on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 3 pm-7pm. Belonging Begins with Us is going to be a fun family event in downtown Glencoe located at the courthouse lawn on the east side  They are celebrating Glencoe as a place where everyone belongs. You’re invited! Feel free to bring a lawn chair if you’d like. There will be a two DJ’s performing throughout the day, performances by the St. Pius “Matachines” dancers, free activities include music and dancing, a StoryWalk®, piñatas and other kids’ activities. Food will be available for purchase. Whether you’re a newcomer or a long-time resident – no matter where you’re from – you belong in Glencoe. Belonging begins with US! This is an event organized by group of Glencoe community members. Support comes from the Glencoe Days Committee, Friends of the Glencoe Public Library, Southwest Initiative Foundation, Pioneer PBS and Southwest Minnesota Arts Council.
